The 10th Worst Day Ever!

My Sundays are usually spent wallclimbing with Ena...but, as i had sprained my elbow a few days earlier while roller blading with Zayd, I decided to take the boys out. They have been complaining loudly and deliberately that its been awhile since they got to do something fun on a weekend. Forgetting the places i brought them to and the things I did with them just last week of course
ceiss

I found out that Petrosains had a new exhibition, Dino Trek 2...naturally, we went there

There, we bought tickets and the lady at the counter told us the door will open at 2.30pm. Looking at the clock above her, i saw that we still have 45 minutes... Maybe a quick bite to eat while we wait.

Just outside Petrosains if you know there is a big lift that is usually too slow with too many people waiting to get on. I usually avoid using those wretched lifts but as we were at the top(4th floor) wanting to go to the lowest (C floor) it made sense to use it...doesn't it? doesn't it?

It came faster than I anticipated so we got ready to get on the lift. There were a few big heavy butts who got in half way and settled in the middle leaving big spaces at the back, forcing others to squeeze in after them to get deeper into the lift. Ibrahim got in while me and Zayd were still outside waiting for the 'big butts' to shuffle in. Then the door started to close. I hastily punched my fist on the button outside while I saw someone on the other side trying to press the inside open button. The door just refuse to wait and it closed....with only Ibrahim inside

I was shocked. Too shocked to remember to shout at Ibrahim what to do. Too shocked and at a loss of what to do besides banging the wretched door in frustration.

Coming to my senses, I grab hold of Zayd and walked around to see where the lift will be stopping. I couldn't see...then the door to the other lift behind me opened and i saw a guard there
and went straight to him while letting him know of what happened. I know i was talking a little to loudly. I know people were staring...who cares?

I was close to tears. Angry at myself. Angry at the lift door. Concerned at how Ibrahim might be feeling...but thinking of Zayd, i kept my cool.

The guard contacted his colleague whom i reckon is a few floors down
I described Ibrahim. I waited. When the lift came back up and opened with the other guard inside, i called out for Ibrahim. He wasnt there. Close to panic but still keeping my cool, I followed the guard inside. While the bloody lift was making its way down, the guard told me that this lift does not have sensors on its doors. It's on a timer he says...What the bloody?? with all the money they couldnt even put a stupid sensor on their doors??

Moving slower than a tortoise, finally the doors opened on level C. The second it opened i saw Ibrahim anxiously looking inside. With huge relief, i thanked the guard and went straight for Ibrahim while clutching Zayd tightly.

Through all that, i could see that Ibrahim, being himself was keeping his cool. But the moment i got to him, he lost it. It took a while to calm him down. Though i was in no hurry. I nearly lost it myself thinking of how scared he must have been..."Zayd mate dah merah dah" said Zayd beside Ibrahim.

The rest of the day passed without any other event. We went to Cold Storage for lunch (chicken and sushi to cheer Ibrahim up). We had a blast at Petrosains while looking for Yunus & Yahya's birthday present. We met Mak Adik and family afterward and had tea and went home around 8pm.

While walking to our car (parked at Hap Seng, so we walked a bit) Zayd said to me "I'm just saying this because of what happened, not including what we did okay?, This is the 10th Worst day ever!!"

I smiled . I didnt feel the need to ask what is number 1 (i knew he had the slots open for 1 to 9 while randomly choosing #10 because it 'felt' right)

Even after telling this story many times and writing about it now, my blood still boiled thinking about it. All i can think now is, 'ALHAMDULILLAH nothing worse had happened. Alhamdulillah for Ibrahim ... mature for his age, I knew he wouldnt lose his head and would have had the sense to wait somewhere.

ALHAMDULILLAH a thousand times more
